In the summer of 2007, KOOL International (RJ Reynolds) was preparing to launch a new line of menthol cigarettes which contained various threads and bursting capsules of flavor inside the filters.
I was contracted as the illustrator to sell the agency's global campaign pitch "Be Taken." Integrating brand elements and iconography with a new visual vocabulary, the pitch campaign ads conveyed the idea of being taken, or abducted, by synesthesia.
The pitch was a great success. The agency and client loved the work so much they asked to have the final artwork enlarged, framed and put on permanent display.
Sadly, this campaign never saw the light of day due to client and agency restructuring.
